Dental expenses...?

Does anyone know how my 20 yr old son, who is a part time student and works part time can afford some much needed dental work ? He does not have insurance and I am disabled and have a limited income....we live in New Hampshire. Is there a way to get Dental coverage or help with these expenses?

Dental expenses...?
The best is Carecredit - you can get 12 or 18 months with no financing - go to Carecredit.com to get more info - good for your son for taking care of his dental health!!
Reply:why don't you try a dental school
Reply:She's right - a dental school may be your best bet. Although they are 'dentists in training', they are supervised.
Reply:A dental school is an excellent option. There are several in the Boston area. The fees are less, but it takes a longer time to complete treatment that in a private practice.

Some states offer Donated Dental Services (DDS) . Your state dental society may have information on this or another similar service. There are strict requirements for participants.

Another option is to volunteer to become a board patient, or sit for a dentist and receive treatment while they are performing certain procedures to obtain their state or regional licenses. I believe that NH is part of the NERB or Northeast Regional Board. There procedures required by the licensing board for licensure are quite specific.

In some states Medicade will cover dental procedures.

Another option is that your son might barter for dental services.
Reply:Dental schools may help, also schools which train dental assistants often work on "live" patients with dentists who work in association with the school.

Some dentists donate work to deserving people. Try working through the local dental society.

"Dental coverage" is a misleading term. It would be wise to avoid discount plans or other internet based programs. Some of the state Delta Dental carriers offer a new program called "Patient Direct" for those who cannot otherwise qualify for insurance. I'm not sure if it's available in New Hampshire yet.
Reply:Dental schools are great. It is hard to request an appt online though. Find their phone number and call them up. We use to sti there all day until they had room for us. It is low or no cost dental care. Also, some dentist offer payment plans. And if he pays cash, they can knock off a few hundred too. But best to talk to them about it. Also, there are credit cards esp made for dental expenses. Check out bank of america, or do a search of dental credit cards. I get insurance on my own and it costs about $15 a month but you'll have a waiting period before it kicks in. Do a search for dental plans and see what comes up in your area. Mention that he is a student also. Depending on ur area, there might be discounts for ppl that also go to school. My dentist offeres that and also my dental coverage. Good luck!
