Dental work at a college?

There's a background story to this but I'm going to give you the short end. My husband and I both had a dental appointment last week. My dental work was easy as there wasn't much damage and I have an appointment for fillings. His went bad! Root canals, fillings, caps, etc lots of them! Adds up to $10k with our dental coverage! Sure the coverage isn't great but WOW! We owe less than that on my car! So after my own appointment I was in the post office and a lady noticed my cheek was bruised and I explained my own visit and told her about my husband. she said she had her own root canal done at Michigan state university pretty cheap... how do you go about that? I've looked online and can't find anything and she didn't have the info on her for contacting them. Any help would be greatly appreciated... anything less than $5k would be a BLESSING!

It's hard looking for it on the internet. Try calling various dental schools. Or school bulletin boards looking for patients. We're all grown up now but my mom use to show up and they fit us in. Good luck!
Reply:any dental school does this. just google the closest city and dental school and call and ask if they do procedures. this time of year is great because all of the students are doing their practicums/testing and need patients to work on. i'm not sure how much of his work can be done there - sometimes it's too advanced, but it's worth a try.

also try local hygiene programmes - they do minor work such as fillings and such, too. perhaps the local community college has this type of programme.
Reply:you need to be very careful...the price isn't much different...actually they were more expensive than the low income dental clinic. Plus for very serious work, i don't know if you want a student doing this to you. I am always scared after my experience at the beauty school...yeah....i got ripped...never again...
