Looking for Inexpensive Dental Assistance?

I lost my old dental coverage since I finished school, and can't enroll in my work's dental coverage until open enrollment next year. I've got a tooth that definately needs a root canal, and the pain from it is excrutiating. Does anyone have any information on places I can get inexpensive dental treatment, or treatment that can go on a payment plan in the Portland (Oregon) Metro Area?

Many doctors do accept payment plans. Call around and ask. When I had a root canal I had to take out a capitol one health loan. It is no interest if you pay it off in a year but I could not afford to pay it off in a year so I have interest.

The cheapest dental insurances are discount plans. You pay a monthly rate and in turn when you go to the dentist they charge you discounted fees which are determined by the insurance company. However, the oral surgeons that I work for usually give a discount anyway if a patient has no insurance and it is not even worth it for the patient to pay for that insurance.

You may want to see if there is a clinic or a dental school in your area. If not call around and find out if any dentist will give a discount to patients that have no insurance.
Reply:You can apply for Care Credit and make interest free payments for up to 18 months.

If there is a dental school close by, go there. The cost will probably be about half of a dentist's regular fee.
