I'm moving to the States in a month or so, in need of having my braces checked up and tightened on a weekly basis. Not considering the insurance coverage, how much does it usually cost each time I visit the orthodontist? Please do answer.

I don't think your visa really matters but my overall cost for braces is around $5000 and my parents pay $175 every month. so i think it will the depends on your orthodontist. I don't think you have to pay every time you visit, i think you get an overall price for the whole braces. when you go to your orthrodontist they will discuss a plan with you.

Reply:braces arent cheap! they can cost anywhere between 2,000 and 9,000 dollars. you dont need them checked on a weekly basis, usually you make appointments every 6 or 8 weeks depending on what your orthodontist requests.
Reply:Hi Britney. I've been in dentistry in the US for over 25 years. This you have to discuss with the Ortho. Depending on how far you are on in treatment he will pro-rate the expense. Since he did not place the braces, he will simple follow the treatment plan, then remove the braces and make a retainer. You need to sit down with him and show him what the Ins. paid out to date and if you still have monthly payments due to the treating doctor. If that is the case he may take that. If you need additional monies for the retainer, he will work with you on a payment plan. Just be up front and discuss this heart to heart. M
