I was thinking about signing up for AmeriPlan for discounts, anyone have any feedback?

I'm having some problems with a wisdom tooth that's comming in and I don't have any dental coverage at all. It will be at least a couple of months before I do. I found out about AmeriPlan and I've been doing some research. From what I've found out, it seems like so long as I call ahead and make sure these places actually take it, it's a really good deal.

Anyone out there have any experiences using it, good or bad?

I read in a review that if you sign up you have to be a member for atleast a year, but I don't see anything about that on the website. Did they get rid of that policy or are they just hiding that fact?

Check your providers list first. I was gonna go that route and all the dentists in my area were ones I would not reccomend going to. But if there are dentists that are good and acept it yea it saves you money. Most dentists don't accept insurance or dental plans because they are locked into the price they give the insurance company. That means they can't charge you anymore than what they have agreed to. Unfortunately the good dentists have enough patients that they dont participate often because they can't make as much money.
Reply:We have Ameriplan. It does save quite a bit on prescriptions, and dental if you don't have insurance. They have a Provider list on their website. It changes from time to time so yes you do need to call ahead and see if they accept Ameriplan. The other thing that I found strange was that there was different levels that the Dentist participate in.....one Dentist may offer one thing but another will be way cheaper for the same service. It is usually listed beside their name on the provider list.
Reply:Ameriplan is awsome. Don't listen about the good dentists don't need it. It has nothing to do with that. There are plenty of great dentists and doctors who are providers with Ameriplan. They like it over insurance because they don't have to wait up to 90 days to get paid. You pay them a discounted fee right away. I have it and use it all the time . And you can cancel any time. Go for it. www.urdentalmed.com
Reply:Ameriplan is a good dental discount plan. Careington is also very good and even more affordable.
