Cracked tooth?
If cost is a concern, you might want to go to a dental school for care if there is one in your area. Dental schools typically charge half of what a private dentist charges. Hopefully there is one near you.

Good luck!
Reply:Go to the dentist. That's the best thing.

Until then, chew on the other side of your mouth. Avoid crunchy food.
Reply:I have had a situation like yours before and would suggest going to a drug store and temporarily sealing it until the 1st of the month. Rinse your mouth out with saltly water and try and not eat on the side of the cracked tooth. An infection would just make it worse with pain and money at the dentist. Or if you live by any dental schools or universities, they sometimes offer free fillings for their students to learn. Good luck.
Reply:You probably had more filling than tooth when you got it done. You may be a able to pull it out. That's cheap and may solve your immediate problem. The thing is if you seal it you may run the risk of infection. If that happens, and in the end the only solution is extraction, freezing don't work is well in infected areas.

Make sure to keep it clean. Don't poke around in there too much. Make sure to eat on the other side. I can't stress that enough. Make an appointment as soon as the insurance kicks in. For the health of you mouth, option A) a crown or B) a bridge. If you pull it out, you'll need to replace it . You could get C) a denture just for that one tooth. The crown is the best solution but it's the most expensive. Just to prepare the tooth can cost up to 1000$. Good luck
Reply:The best thing to do is go to the dentist but I understand how expensive it is with no insurance. It sounds like you are going to need a crown and they are not cheap. If the tooth has not been bothering you at all then you can go to Walmart and get some temporary filling material in there dental section and try that until your coverage kicks in. Try to get your tooth as dry as possible before you put it in and stay away from hard or sticky foods. If it doesn't stay in then you need to keep it as clean as possible.
Reply:The best option is to have it fixed by Ur Dentist ASAP because there is a risk that a crack may appear in the roots underneath and then u have to have the tooth removed!!
