like dental, medical, and vision? I am getting married, and i need to know if i can cancel my regular insurance.

Reply:The above answer is not entirely accurate. The dependents of an Army soldier get full medical benefits when they are seen at the military medical facilities. If they need to be seen at a civilian medical center then they must first get approval through TriCare.





Dental coverage costs a monthly amount that will vary depending on the number of dependents. I am married with three children and I pay $27.63 per month for them to have dental coverage. The dental plan does not cover 100% for the dependents. You would need to contact TriCare to find out how much the dental plan covers.





I am not sure what the coverage is for the vision plan. Again, check with TriCare for full information.
Reply:You get full coverage if you are seen at military hospital. Sometimes you pay a co-pay when seeing a dr off-post. You also need a referral to see someone off-post. I would keep my regular insurance just to be on the safe side because there may come a time when you want to see a dr who isn't in the TriCare network or a prescription that the Army doesn't cover. Try tricare.mil.
Reply:If you elect Tricare Prime, and live in an area where there are Tricare Prime providers, then the insurance is good. Dental is offered through United Concordia and covers 70% of most procedures, up to about $1500/year. Vision is offered through Tricare but the benefits only include basic eye exams every year or every 3 years depending on your age. Contact exams and glasses are never covered through Tricare.

An active duty soldier that is married... their spouse and kids get full medical/presriptions.





You also get 1 free vision screening every year per person. This does not include the exam for contacts. All eyewear %26amp; contacts are paid for by the family..... not tricare...buty the exam is free.





The dental includes 2 cleanings a year and a full set of xrays (once a year). You would have to request a booklet on the % you have to pay when it comes to all other dental work.
Reply:If you are married to an active duty soldier you do get full insurance coverage. You need to make sure that he enrolls you in DEERS right away and confirm that your coverage is started prior to canceling your coverage. Good luck to you both.
Reply:not really. Medical is dependent on which type you get. Standard has a copay and only pays a percentage. prime usually has no out of pocket costs unless you get Prescriptions off base. Dental is a monthly fee and pays a maximum of 80%( two free cleanings per year however). there is no real vision at all. One exam every year or two years, but no coverage on glasses or contacts(contact lens exams and fittings are NOT covered).





at all times, however, Tricare is the SECONDARY payee. So if you keep your current insurance, Tricare will only pay after that one does.
