Do you need Health coverage?

there is a plan that isn't insurance but a discount card for all dental vision prescrition and health it covers like 40% at nhcdplan.com it is only $52 a month for a whole family! would I be better off with insurance?

Do you need Health coverage?
One of those news magazines did a story about that and it says that most providers don't accept the discount cards so the people who bought them usually paid more in the long run than paying for insurance. Also, check with the Beter Business Bureau (BBB) to see if tht discount company is in good standing. A lot are not.

I'm not telling you not to get them, I'm warning that a lot of them are not better for you. The report did say some are good, but the buyer must beware. When in doubt, don't use it unless you have a good friend who has tried it for the same purposes you would be and have had no problems. Be skeptical of their referals.

Good luck
Reply:Yes you do.
Reply:It depends what it covers. Check both plans and compare them overall.
Reply:you are advertising, you know, you can't do this on here
Reply:absolutely!
Reply:use your own judgement, insurance is so expensive but in the US you almost can't live without it
Reply:Yes. It's a fact that someday you are going to get sick with something that costs so much to cure or fight that you will not be able to pay 40%... such as diabetes, cancer, or heart disease.

If you can't pay, you'll have a difficult time getting the right treatment and you might be turned down for life saving treatment. This has happened to so many of my relatives.
Reply:those discount things arent always as they seem. Find out EXACTLY what they cover, because they might not cover some simple things that you would need like fillings and physicals!
Reply:yes i do,thanks for the address
Reply:yes..because different services vary..like if you had "this" done, you only get a percentage off as oppose to getting it covered by your insurance. also depends onthe the plan..but its all imo.
Reply:Yes . So much better . Even dough it might cost more but you can be sure that it covers everything . But I guess maybe for Vision and Dental it's not bad . I would suggested that you talk to someone professional about that and find the plan that's best for you and your family.
Reply:Yes, you would be better off with insurance. My husband just had a hospital stay (we lost our insurance the month before) and it came to $13,000. You do not really save all that much with those cards. For the dental you save like $10-$20 for like an Xray that normally costs $100. You would be better off with an insurance that has a co-pay or at least a smaller deductible.
Reply:i believe if you have young children Health insurance is the way to go especially since children tend to visit the doctor often and when they are teenager they sometimes go more often. There may be a way you can qualify for inexpensive health insurance through the state you may want to look into that.
Reply:Yup! Trust me, its a rip-off! I know exactly what you are talking about as I have checked into it as well, and they also claim they will do things like give free x-rays, etc., but the problem with it is, the only Drs. that go along with it are usually crappy, and then there is a long, long, waiting list before you can be seen. If you call any of the Dentists and ask for an appt. it will probably be at least 6 months before they can see you! Please, let me know what you come up with! Go on --give them a call and let us know! Thanx, Lauren
Reply:So you would still have to pay 60%? Well, if this place is legit, I suppose it's better than nothing. However, if my brother had that plan when he broke his leg and needed surgery, he would have had to pay $17,400. If my mother had that plan when she had her heart attack, she would have had to pay $24,000. Again, it may be better than nothing, if you can't afford health insurance and can't find a job that offers it. It's always a gamble...if you buy health insurance, you'd probably be paying at least $1,000 a month...so two years of that, and you could have paid for a broken leg or heart attack outright. Then there are always the horrific car accidents, cancer, etc., that could cost a million or more...:-)
Reply:It is probably only taken by very few doctors who you many not want treating you.
Reply:Read the rules: NO ADS OR SPAM HERE. Besides, I've got plenty of health coverage.
