What do I need to do to prep for the dentist?

It's been about 3+ years since I have been in for a checkup. I didn't have dental coverage and now I want to go in for a checkup since I have the dental coverage again, What should I do before I go in to make it look like it hasn't been so long.

What do I need to do to prep for the dentist?
Just do what you usually do (i.e. brush, rinse, floss, mouthwash, etc.) and maybe use some sort of whitening treatment. But it's really best to just be honest with your dentist - it's understandable if you don't want it to clearly show, but he/she may be able to tell anyway.
Reply:When you go to the dentist he will like to know you. In order to better treat you. In that case it is better that you tell your considerations why you deal with your teeth the way you have done and why you want to change this for the better. In this case explain that finances was important. Also, that you are concerned about longevity of your teeth and ask how to accomplish that. The dentist will be happy that you are interested.
