Ok, so I am thinking of moving out on my own (I'm 19) and when I do I will no longer be covered by my parents insurance policy. So I was wondering what was a good insurance I could get that would not cost a fortune? I am looking for dental coverage and also medical coverage, in case I am in an accident or need to go see the doc. I also have wisdom teeth coming in, so it would need to cover an oral surgeon also. I am currently working at lowes, but I am unsure of how good their insurance is, and will need to work there another 2 months before I can sign up for the insurance. So, my question is, is lowes insurance good? And what are my other options for insurance for dental and medical? Thanks.
Insurance advise?
I believe as long as you are a full time student (it doesn't matter if you live with your parents or not) you can still be covered under your parents' insurance. Once you're no longer a full time student, you wouldn't be covered anymore though. As far as whether or not Lowe's insurance is good... it is probably better than buying your own policy. Health and dental insurance costs a lot of money, and whatever Lowe's would contribute to it is probably better than you getting your own individual coverage. Go with their group insurance.
Reply:if you are in college or not, and you can tolerate your parents at all, stay at home. you will never be able to afford the quality of life you have become accustomed too, for the insurance you are asking for. search the internet for medical, dental, car insurance and go from there. Honestly, if you are not moving in with a "sugar daddy or mamma" after rent, groceries, utilities, and luxuries and trust me ... internet is a luxury, think good and hard before you decide your parents rules aren't something you can't live with. Good luck to you.

Reply:Stay with your parents' plan if you possibly can- it will probably be the best deal for you. If you can't do that, by all means, sign up through Lowe's. Retail companies usually offer ok insurance- you will likely have an HMO without a huge choice of providers, but coverage is coverage. Also, many colleges have some sort of health insurance program students can sign up for. Should you not have coverage through your parents or Lowe's, look into enrolling there.
As for the wisdom teeth, that is a procedure that is possible to have done for free if you are willing to take part in a medical study. Usually they are wanting to test a pain medication that you take after the procedure, or something intended to numb you during the procedure. I haven't done it myself, but I have a couple of friends who did it this way, and they're alright.
Reply:You're not going to get a private dental policy that pays out more than they take in. It just NEVER happens. They have a TON of exclusions and waiting periods, for everything except cleanings %26amp; fillings. So run the math before you buy.
For medical, it's GOING to cost $200 a month, period. The insurance from any employer is going to be CHEAPER than buying it on your own. The plan is probably decent, but will vary from state to state.
If you still want to shop on your own, contact the guy that sells you your car insurance, or renters policy, for a quote or a referral. A local, independent agent is the way to go.
